about Did you know: Our West Essex YMCA is a charity, we are a 501-C-3 not for profit organization.  Donations made to us are considered a tax deductible gift.

Did you know: West Essex YMCA and PTA of Livingston are running the Kids R Fit Program, which provides fitness made into fun for kindergarten through 5th grade at Harrison and Mt.Pleasant schools in Livingston  We are helping to get children away from sedentary lifestyles and teaching them the benefit of getting fit, while having fun.

Did you know: We take care of between 750 and 800 children every day in our Extended Day Programs so their moms and dads can go to work knowing that their children are safe and well cared for. Before and After School Programs are a collaboration between the Board of Education of Livingston, West Orange, Caldwell, West Caldwell, Roseland, and West Essex YMCA. The purpose of Extended Day Care is to provide before/after care to the students of working parents.

Did you know: West Essex YMCA has a Childcare program called Peanut Shell which services  approximately 110 children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. This enables parents to work and be assured of quality programs for their infants, toddlers and preschoolers.  We also have a full and part day program called Weekday Childcare Center. Weekday engages the children in an age appropriate curriculum for preschoolers ages 2 1/2 thru 6. 

Did you know: We host recreational programs every week for members of ARC (The Association for Retarded Citizens) of Essex County, so they can get the benefit of exercise and fun in a structured environment.

Did you know: Off-site Senior Fitness Classes are just one more way that the West Essex YMCA connects with our community. If active older adults can't come to us, we will go to them! Our Health Enhancement Department sends instructors out to to provide exercise classes for the residents. We are helping seniors improve the quality of their lives through stretching, range of motion exercises and mild cardio workouts or armchair fitness classes in four different senior centers.

West Essex YMCA collaborates with LMAC, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Healthy Community Healthy Youth Committee, United Way, Livingston Kiwanis, Overlook Hospital, Juvenile Diabetes, Livingston Chamber of Commerce, the Township of Livingston, Caldwell College and many other not for profit with similar missions.

Did you know that: Last year the West Essex YMCA subsidized over 300,000 in financial assistance to families in need in our service area: Livingston, the Caldwells, Roseland and West Orange.

Did you know: Every year we have an Annual Support Campaign where volunteers solicit money so we can help those in need. 

Did you know: We are truly part of our communities and not merely a place to exercise or play basketball.
