West Essex YMCA Teen Programs

Today’s world is a challenging place for teenagers. The West Essex YMCA provides programs for teens that shape values and encourage lifelong community service. Our asset-building approach helps teens develop the skills they need to become successful.

The West Essex YMCA Teen Department offer a variety of programs for teens, all designed to address the social, emotional and physical needs of teens. YMCA teen programs offer a safe place to socialize, exposure to positive role models, and leadership opportunities to help them develop into strong, healthy adults.

Teen Leaders Clubs: The YMCA's Leaders Club provides teen members with opportunities for leadership training, personal growth, service to others, and social development. Young people meet regularly in small groups, connecting with their peers and counselors in skill- and character-building activities. A caring staff works with teens to develop their confidence and teamwork.

Youth & Government Program: The YMCA Youth in Government program gives teens hands-on experience in the workings of government systems and procedures, helping teens build self-esteem and discover new ideas that will benefit the community. Teens have the opportunity to apply these teachings on service trips, spending out-of-school time helping there local  community.
